Digitizing companies sustainably: Practical example Stehnke & syniotec

The family business Gottfried Stehnke Bauunternehmung GmbH & Co KG, based in Osterholz-Scharmbeck, has been in existence for over 150 years. The focus is on road construction and civil engineering, cable and pipeline construction, structural and civil engineering as well as real estate management. This makes the construction company a reliable partner for both public and private clients regionally and nationally. The company is now responsible for over 410 employees and an extensive fleet of machinery and equipment with over 6,000 units.

What were the challenges?

Manual management of the rental fleet, delays in the rental of construction machinery, lack of overview: The HOCH Group wanted a centralized system that would enable full management of the rental fleet.

1. reliable device localization
2. automated cost center allocation
3. machine digitization and inventory

The path to digital transformation

In 2019, Stehnke Bauunternehmung was already looking for a digital solution for scheduling and managing internal resources. With syniotec, they have a flexible partner at their side who can solve the company’s key challenges.

What used to be done by calling various colleagues when requesting a machine can now be easily done digitally in syniotec’s SAM software. In addition to basic functions such as the clear calendar view and live machine location, there are now numerous processes in SAM that automate work steps.

SAM’s intuitive interface makes it possible to manage these steps with little effort. “This not only saves time, but also significantly less paperwork,” explains skilled worker Martin Lütjen from Stehnke. “SAM makes everything digitally accessible. My colleagues and I can access all the functions stored in the system from anywhere and at any time.

In addition to SAM develops syniotec telematics. This means that IoT devices that are suitable for every type of construction machine and device.

This telematics is necessary to reliably and securely transfer machine data such as operating hours, live location, voltage or battery capacity to the software. Stehnke Bauunternehmung has now equipped its entire fleet with syniotec solutions – this includes both large machines and small devices.

Stehnke Bauunternehmung and syniotec can look back on a successful partnership. But this is far from over. The potential opened up by digitalization in this large industry is far from exhausted. With this in mind, both SAM and the IoT are being continuously developed to keep up with the latest technology.
